FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!

Jamie Peterson is looking to install shutters to the windows of his house and asks what he should be looking for?

Shutter World owner Paul Cannarella says that he offers four different shutter products for roller shutters.

We are phasing out the domestic level foam filled product for people who require security as a feature. The foam filled product looks the part however you can actually cut them with a pair of normal scissors and we feel they are too light for a security application. They are less than .4mm which is paper thin soft aluminium with foam in it to hold it together.

I didn’t realise there were different grades of material for roller shutters how do you describe them?

I should start by saying that in 1976 my late father-in-law designed and developed roller shutters specifically for Australian deigned homes, not like the imported European designed shutters that need to be turned the wrong way around to be installed in Australia and this compromises the design.

Since then we have continued to update and improve upon the shutters as the demand for a more secure shutter gains momentum and therefore introducing different grades of material to suit the different requirements of our customers.
The new domestic product is an extruded slat that is three times thicker than the phased out roll-form foam filled product and is designed as a domestic security product. We also carry a commercial security product and our new “Ultimate Shutter “which has been tested and is bullet proof.

We have also introduced our anti-theft locking bar to our domestic and commercial designs and all our products offer a triple locking system.

We want something that will look good on the house as well as give good insulation and block out the sun.

Our Australian designed shutters do all that and more. Once in the locked position they are tamper proof and we install the shutters at a maximum distance from the window for maximum insulation properties. They are available in nine standard colours and we can powder coat to any colour desired (optional). We have the most compact design; slim line box with shutter facing the correct way and you can be assured the Shutter World shutter looks like an integral part of the home.

How do they operate?

The all mechanical, all metal operation makes the shutters reliable to operate using the anodized aluminium wand/rod or they are available with a motor to make them electric. Other remote control options are available.

How much noise do they block out?

You will find a minimum of 50 per cent of outside noise is blocked out of the house. We have a sound proof room where customers can see/hear for themselves in our showroom at Ingleburn.

Can I install them myself?

Roller Shutters are not a DIY product as they need to be installed by professionals as the electric system requires a licensed electrician and the shutters need to be installed correctly for maximum effectiveness.

Where can I see the shutters?

We can visit the home to give you a free measure and quote and you are welcome to come to our showroom where we can demonstrate the different products so you can select the best product for your individual requirements.
